JONATHAN JAYASURIA
Jonathan Jayasuria is an emerging filmmaker on the rise. When pursuing Film and Television in New Zealand, Jonathan has written, directed & produced works of short films & commercials, working with industry professionals & leaders such as the likes of Peter Tait and Michael Bennett to name a few.
Upon his return to Malaysia, Jonathan had the opportunity to work within the local industry and has done several amounts of quality productions; including independent and mainstream media productions; working with local giants such as the likes of Dain Said, Nandita Solomon and many more. In 2018, his short film “Timemaker” was premiered at the Johor Bahru International Film Festival & the Asia Peace Film Festival in Islamabad, Pakistan.
From commercials to musicals to short films, his appetite for storytelling & stunning visual imagery also landed him an opportunity in 2017 to travel to Da Nang, Vietnam for the Danang International Fireworks Festival where he documented the preparations for the global phenomenon and has since then returned annually for this event. In 2019, Jonathan wrote, directed & produced an incredibly captivating commercial for MSI in collaboration with Red Flame SFX, in conjunction with Merdeka Day to promote their very new Workstation laptop.
Jonathan’s talents reach further than directing films; his knack for acting and modeling got him currently walking down that road parallel to his directing journey.
Apart from performance based talents. Jonathan is also a naturally talented artist from a young age, whose work has won countless competitions over the years, such as the Spotlight 2020 Jury Selection by the Penang Art District and the grand prize winner of IMU's 2020 Art Fest to name a few.
